# About Me

Tomás Carruço

Pedro Marques

I'm a backend-focused full-stack engineer building scalable, fault-tolerant systems in Go and TypeScript. Experienced in microservice design, PostgreSQL and MongoDB data modelling, Redis caching, and high-availability cloud architectures (balancing, replication, containers) with a research background in IoT. I'm comfortable owning a service from schema to frontend,.
My main focus has shifted torwards back-end development and cloud-based solution's desing. My beginings were on the front-end of the web, but now I try to work the full web and systems spectrum.
Born and raised in Santarém - Portugal, I've finished all of my education (UPSantarem) in my home-town. I spend my time reading and doing programming experiments, and the ocasional guittar session. I've also had the pleasure to travel abroad, to Hungary (university relation's and knowledge sharing) and nationaly to the Madeira island, as part of the national Poliempreende competition.
- Thank you, for your time!

Rust Code Gen PG/SQL Unstructured Data ETL

A library to turn your misc JSON values into usable sql syntax. You can use this lib for driving a no-schema data storage solution, based on SQL environments. This project was initially thought as a service to store data from multiple IoT devices/sources, in a plug-and-play way for each device, allowing to seamlessly query and manipulate this data using SQL sytaxt.

This was a pet project, just to play around with Rust and SeaORM, in order to create a service that could be put in front of arbitrary JSON publishing nodes/APIs, and make them indexable and queryable with PostgreSQL. The produced SQL syntax is only compatible with PostgreSQL for now.

Go MQTT Backend Embedded PostgreSQL

Dropmedical was the university's IoT course final project. It consisted in developing a embedded device in simulation software, and develop a backend and frontend to accompany said device. The goal was to create an automated medicine (in pill form) dispenssing device, that would enable reloading, dispenssing and generate alerts for all possible medicine managing needs, with the added beneffit of being autonomous and remotley controlabble, if need bee.

The backend was developed using Golang, defining a HTTP CRUD API, that would use PostgreSQL as the DB. To enable communication with the device, a seperate MQTT API was developped into the backend, leveraging a industry standart communication protocol.

C++ BLE IoT Embedded Software Medical Devices

Developed and defined a prototype for a BLE based IoT communication protocol, implementing it using the Arduino framework, on the ESP32-S3 SoC. Part of a larger project, that also included backend development in Go and SQLite, for a off-the-grid medical emergency manager.

The main goal of this project was to implement a PoC of the protocol, enabeling caching messages in the nodes traveled, and automatic route resolution based on BLE signal strength and proximity of the SRC and DST nodes.

DSL Python Multithreading Site Generation Markup Parssing

For the final project of the "Programming Fundamentals" university course, I developed a Static Site Generator in Python. It included its own DSL (parssing and error handeling), multithreaded file operations, an DSL-Markup file update watcher, and included Bash scripts to handle installation of the program.

This program was also able to leverage customized CSS template files, enabeling different styles, through community sharing. The sharing of config files would be done through the Web retrieval of said .httconfig files, from their own Github repositories.
